Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Ascend mobile application and the project website.

1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Ascend, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the application or access our website.

2. Eligibility & Age Requirement

You must be at least 15 years old to use Ascend or to submit your email on this website. By using the app or the pre-registration form, you represent that you meet this requirement. Users in jurisdictions where the minimum age for digital services is higher must comply with the applicable local law. If you are under the applicable minimum age, you must obtain verifiable parental consent before use.

3. User Responsibility & Local Storage

Ascend is designed as a local-first application. We do not automatically back up your habit lists, quest history, completion logs, or rank progress on our servers. You are solely responsible for backing up your data. If you delete the app, reset your device, or lose your phone, your progress will be permanently lost. You can export your data to a JSON file at any time from Settings in the app.

4. Disclaimer of Medical / Health Advice

Ascend is a productivity and self-improvement tool. It does not provide medical, clinical, therapeutic, health, or psychological advice. The app is not a substitute for professional medical care. If you have any health concerns, are planning major changes to your physical routine, or are struggling with mental wellness, please consult a qualified physician or healthcare professional.

5. Ascension Subscription (Premium)

While the basic habit loops are free, certain premium features (such as Rank Trials, themes, and customization loadouts) may require an active Ascension Subscription. Subscriptions are purchased through third-party platforms (Apple App Store or Google Play Store). These purchases are governed by the payment terms and refund policies of the respective store operator.

For EU/EEA consumers: the 14-day right of withdrawal (cooling-off period) that would ordinarily apply under Directive 2011/83/EU does not apply to digital content that has already begun to be performed with your prior express consent and acknowledgment that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal. This is handled at the point of purchase by Apple or Google under their respective store terms.

6. Proprietary Rights

The name "Ascend", our logos, rank badges, user interface designs, visual assets, and application code are protected by intellectual property laws and remain the exclusive property of the Project Ascend creators.

7. Limitation of Liability

Ascend is provided to you "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from your use or inability to use the application.

8. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be resolved in the competent courts of France.
